Tide Pools at Discovery Park Beach

Mt. Rainier, only visible on sunny days.

We had a great day exploring tide pools at this beach on the Puget Sound. I was surprised just how far out the tide went. We were there at "extreem low tide". The tide came back in very quickly, within a few hours. The tide pools were warm and fun to play in, but we really didn't see much. Just sea urchins (check out the one that ate a crab!) a few fish. Water would squirt up randomly like a fountain and that made us giggle. We also found the coolest piece of seaweed I have ever seen. We took turns winding it around like a whip.

It's nice to see you enjoying an outing without jackets on. It looks like a lot of fun. Glad that DJ got to go, too! Thanks for letting me know these pictures were here.
