Portland OR

Really the title to this should be "Failed attempt to see Mt. Saint Helens. Over Spring break we attempted to see the volcano, but silly me! I should have known better. You can't see anything if it's raining, and it rains here all winter long. We went to the first visitors center and learned lot's and watched an interesting film, but we'll have to try and see the volcano again this summer when it's sunny. Even if you had been standing right next to it you wouldn't have seen it. The camera looking into the crater was nothing but gray mist. So we set our sights on Portland OR, only 1 hr south. We went to the famous Voo Doo Donuts and ate donuts shaped like little men (filled with red jelly) and a pretzel stick in his belly and other donuts like the "Dirty Bastard" which was covered in chocolate frosting and oreo's and had peanut butter drizzled on top. They even have one with bacon on top, but we forgot to try that one! Then we hit Chinatown where we saw two homeless men punch each other and another one pee in a phone booth. Good times. I think we weren't in the nicest area. But we did visit a beautiful chinese garden and get some great pictures. We even ate at a tea house in the garden. Very posh and not kid friendly. The kids did great. We tried some strange candied fruits and nuts. There is a full album on Facebook.
